The people at Hop and Grape are great!
When I ordered all my kit brewing stuff (three FV's, three KK's all the other general brewing stuff and 5 kits) they delivered it themselves all the way to Leeds. To say I was surprised would be an understatement.
I'm ordering my AG brewery from there in a few weeks, let's hope they don't have to do it again!
Much kudos to Patsy and John!
AG Tomorrow (probably)
I agree, way beyond the call of duty for any shop to do that.
But guess what? Yup, I fuXXed it up already.
Once John had gone I had to have a good look, take a few pics for on here etc. So I thought, right, I'll cut the holes for the two elements, measured up by holding the rubber sealing ring to the hole saw and prepared to cut. It was at this point that I ignored the little voice in my head which said "stop, your about to fuXX it up!".
That's right, I now have a hole thats too big to hold the element.
I was so mad at myself I ended up kicking the fermenter across the kitchen into a work surface breaking some bordering off the bottom.
I appear to have a bit of a temper.
So, luck would have it that someone close by has a couple of FV's and a couple of kegs for sale nice and cheap. So, if they're ok as boiler material I can start tomorrow. Again.
One day I'll learn to listen to those voices...

I'd thought about that idea so went to B+Q last night but couldn't find anything suitable. Anyway, if I get those FV's today that should be the problem solved.Martin the fish wrote:I done that. I now have a big tank connector in my boiler with a blanking cap on it. Cheaper than buying a new FV though.
Just a quick update - I woke up this morning (sounds like a blues song) with the thought of another old kettle I have. My house is the place for all things electrical when they die, apparently.
Anyway, after ripping the old kettle to pieces and offering it up to the oversized hole, it fits! Woot. So, I just need to get a couple of rubber rings to replace the old ones and I should be on my way.
I'm not too bothered if it works as it can just serve as a hole plugger for now.
I think I'll start a new thread once i'm truly up and running, with pics of course.

Nah, I think the ex Swan kettle was a larger size than standard.DaaB wrote:Anyway, after ripping the old kettle to pieces and offering it up to the oversized hole, it fits! Woot. So, I just need to get a couple of rubber rings to replace the old ones and I should be on my way.
I wonder if the Tesco elements are smaller than 40mm as that's a pretty standard size.
