Got started about 7.30am so not much shorter than your standard brewday really, just earlier. Next time I'll go for something more adventurous, been doing a lot of 'golden ales' recently. Trouble is they go down so well... :D

I'm notoriously bad at following up on posts so here's a go at putting that right. I had the first bottle of this on Wednesday night (to make space for kegging the 1880 bitter, honest) and this is what I found...

Image

It poured crystal clear, but the aroma was mainly yeasty with little in the way of hops. There was good mouthfeel but it definitely felt over-carbonated. There was a light maltiness and good strong bitterness in the mouth but little in terms of hop flavour save a mellow spicyness, probaby from the challenger. I shook some of the carbonation out and it began to drink better with a slightly more pronounced hop flavour but not much. The finish was nice but where have all the hops gone? :?

I'll give it another couple of weeks and hopefully it will have matured some more. And I guess there's always the option of dry-hopping the keg. Probably with something powerful at this rate!

It looks exactly like the kind of pint I enjoy.

Will/can the hoppiness kick in with further conditioning, or will the yeastiness just subside to reveal the hops?
