Recommend A Golden Ale Kit?

Post by shepp » Thu Mar 06, 2008 10:01 am

I just wondered if anybody can recommend a good golden ale kit which i can be served a bit cooler in the summer months?
Did you add anything to it which turned out well?
I'm a big fan of Summer Lightning at the pub, there's a Hop Back owned pub near me that does an excellent pint =P~
Thanks Shepp

Hi,

Has anyone else brewed this one? Whats the feedback?

I have the Linthwaite Light almost finished fermenting now. To be honest it was a random choice whilst in the local HB shop but a cheeky lick of the hydrometer after a reading suggested it should be a very pleasant mild summer ale...

Woodforde's Great Eastern, especially with an ounce of Cascade thrown in the barrel/secondary for a week is absolutely lovely.

Only problem is that it's best after a longer period of cool conditioning and then tastes so good it doesn't hang about long! :D

Midas Touch is good too, but I've done Great Eastern twice and would again.
