DME question

am i right in thinking that if i use 1KG of DME, or beer enhancer, or even a mix of the 2. I will get a lower alcohol content than just using 1KG of sugar

The kits I've done say to replace sugar with Beer enhancer (or DME) on a 1 for 1 basis so I'd guess at not losing that much over a 5 gallon brew

would you advise to use 1kg of DME or Enhancer or a mixture and also add some sugar to bring the alcohol back up maybe 250g or 500g
