28/2/08 Hop burst Pale ale

Post by oblivious » Fri Feb 29, 2008 12:12 pm

Hi all

Brewed this last nite, the only changes was with the hops. As I was not happy with my amarillo, they where still vacuumed seals but had a off yellow colour to them, so I added additional Cascades to compensate for this.

Hop burst Pale ale

O.G. 1.060 (23L)

Pale ale malt 4.35 kg (69%)
Munich malt 1.63kg (26%)
Crystal 55L 0.304kg (5%)

Hops (need to re calculate the IBU's)

Amarillo 33g 20min
Cascade 50g 20min
Additional 40g of Cascade

Amarillo 33g 10min
Cascade 33g 10min
Additional 40g of Cascade

Amarillo 33g 1min
Cascade 33g 1min
Additional 40g of Cascade

Yeast US-56

There was around 15 cm or 6 inches or more of hops in the bottom of the boiler and it’s a ten gallon one!

Here is a pic

Looking at the hop schedule, the longest boil they got was 20 mins?? Is that right? :?

yep, is about flavor and aroma, but you do need more hop to get a resalable bitterness

I'm interested to see how this goes too.

Are you getting much of a steer on the taste and aroma yet OB, or will this develop?
