Well done iowalad!!! GW's recipe is a good one, I made it last year and it was the first keg drained at a party that it was served at!!

I would not be too quick to assume that whirlflock works better than Irish moss when dealing with Fullers yeast. That stuff floculates so well that I suspect you could get away with putting nothing in the boiler and it would still drop clear in just a few days. I also think that yeast is the best, of course that may be because I really like all the Fuller's beer (at least the ones I have tried over here anyway). Someday maybe I will be able to travel to the source and try them served from real casks.
Drinking:Saison (in bottles), Belgian Dubbel (in bottles), Oud Bruin (in bottles), Olde Ale (in bottles),
Abbey Triple (in bottles), Munich Helles, Best Bitter (TT Landlord clone), English IPA
Conditioning: Traditional bock bier, CAP
Fermenting: Munich Dunkel
Next up: Bitter (London Pride like), ESB
So many beers to make, so little time (and cold storage space)

Be forewarned Barley Water - Once you try Fullers on cask the bottled and kegged Fullers we get over here will only disappoint!

As to the whirlfloc - I was comparing results with multiple batches of each. I have been more impressed with whirlfloc than Irish Moss but I wonder if I was using enough IM.

They had Fullers Chiswick bitter on cask in my local pub a couple of nights ago, between me and my two friends we finished it all off :D

Nice work Mysty!

Just took a gravity ready and I am right on my predicted OG.

Took the sample via my fermenter tap and was amazed at the almost complete lack of yeast in the sample. That stuff must stick like glue to the bottom of the fermenter. Nice looking beer (not as dark as the real deal as I remember it). Smelled lovely. Tasted rather nice as well! 8)

Graham's recieps never fail!

Brewed this for a family get together in about a month. Want to have another beer on tap as well. Originally I was thinking a pale mild as I thought it would go over better. Now I am leaning towards a dark mild or maybe a golden/summer ale.

Took a peek in the fermenter in preparation for kegging and it looks like I have an infection. :(

I suspect I got sloopy when rousing. But I am sure I always cleaned and sanitized . . . .

taste and smell were definitely off - slight vinegarlike.

Of course it would be the brew were everything went smoothly!

It definitely didn't taste like that but has the white milky substance on some of the surface.

I think I will keg it and see what happens.

Sounds like you are going to have to ditch it and sanitize everything you have, I had this happen to a brew scrubbed and sanitized like crazy and the next went too, binned the fermentor after that, no problems since.

I stuck it in an old party pig I had laying around. They are easy to clean out if it fails.

My one other infection (when I was extract) was similar. Never tasted right but still drinkable (but I drank it rather fast).

Sorry to hear your brew got nasty, Iowa. I just bottled my bitter yesterday. The slurry of WL002 took a long time to ferment out; I was tempted to get in there and stir it up, too.

At least you have an excuse to brew again!

I've had that too :shock: ...however the beer never tatsed vinegary and turned out fine...in fact it was never carbonated, and at 3 months was still just as good as after 6 weeks.
