Yes to the pics
If memory serves, is it not the where the EU is doing research into the potential of a fission reactor?

Not so much. Fission reactors are fine, it's fusion that's still experimental. The Joint European Torus (biggest built and running) is in good ole Blighty.
CERN's headline grabber is searching for the Higg's boson, the thing that gives some particles (electrons and protons for example) mass but not others (photons for example). But there's a bunch of other experiments taking place there on smaller particle accelerators, one making anti-hydrogen for example (that's a negatively charge anti-proton being orbited by a positively charged anti-electron or positron... awesome I know!). CERN's also famous for one man in particular, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the father of the internet.

My ignorance/dyslexia is corrected. All very intresting though

Sod that, we'll be over the border with cheese and wine! They only export the duff stuff you know!

CERN is the place I'm expecting the entire Earth to be sucked into, once they discover how to make mini black holes (probably by accident)!

Hotel booked (Legacy Aston Court) so I'll be there, not taking any beer though and it will be my first beer festival!

Sure thing!
Would getting the train up to Derby and then catching a lift back be better ? (The hotel/venue is v. close to the station apparently).
Train prices are probably extortionate though.

Yeah there's plenty of room if you do choose to get the train and need a lift back.
Either way we'll see you there.

Actually, I looked into that but the travel back on sunday takes hours with at least 2 changes one of which is catching a bus!
Too much hassle
The car is easier and I know the route from when I visit family in Yorkshire and Notts.
Should do it in 2hrs 45mins....oh god, i've done it now, cursed myself
Doh!

Just beat me to it Phil with your post.
Thanks but I might visit family in Leicester on the way back, I got a new great-nephew to visit!
Message you next week, do you think you can buy tickets on the door?
I've got time with the post if not.

I mailed Janette a couple of days back and she told me I could buy tickets on the door but if you want to attend the talk in the morning then you should probably drop her a line.
