Brewday 29-3 Wherry

Decided I had to get a brew on as it was a lovely morning then day turned foul. Brew took forever in the end, trip to BnQ and mowing the lawn helped the clock hands move round.

3.3 Maris
0.4 Crystal
68c for 90 mins
30g fuggles 90min
20g EKG 15 mins
20g Styrians 15mins
20g fuggles 15mins (just chucked this in as it seemed pointless keeping it)
Whirlflock tablet 10 mins

Tried out a different water treatment boiling to precipitate chalk and remove Chlorine, no chemicals at all, have tried CRS and DLS and ph5.2 and camden and nothing, so thought I'd give traditional a try.

Batch sparged too but messy it up a lot as I swapped the HLT and boiler over to preboil and got the batches all wrong did three too small ones in the end but still collected too little so efficency was out the window.

finally put 20l @ 1034 to bed at efficency of 63%

The extra fuggles really made the wort tasty can't wait for this one.

Sorry no photos until I get my camera back, SWMBO put it in stuff for storage.

flooded by dishwasher have had to have all the floors up no downstairs atm, but true to form british workman have so far taken since 18th sept to get to the stage where they are just about to put it back together, well after the bloke comes to remove the black mould too much of a health risk for the workman but fine for me and my kids, according to the underwriters anyway.
