Very well thanks. It is the same heath robinson set up but still pushing out cracking beers thanks to JHBF , Mr Line and Mr Ollosson.

Have been contempating an upgrade and was going to go 10gallon plastic but my coolbox mash tun just wouldnt cope. Have seen your heroics with the nordic stainless thermo box and may make the plunge soon

As said before it would have been a lot quicker (30 min v 50 min) to just carry the break over....seeing as it wasn't apparent in the copper after recirc anyway

My water has bugger all in it R and since starting to use Ph5.2 I've had slow ferments even with SO4. Add to that my haze issues and it led me to look a little bit further into the entire brewing process.

There is a distinct possibility that what little calcium I had in my untreated water was being locked up by the PH5.2 in some way.
Lack of calcium in the wort leads to slower fermentation and it also means the yeast will not floc as it should when it comes to clearing...and this may have been the cause of my haze...hopefully

If by adding the minerals I don't need Ph5.2, all well and good, but if the haze remains, then I will probably start using Ph5.2 again, in addition to the minerals.

They're CPC disconnects as used by steve flack. They're certainly a nice bit of kit though Steve reports the o-rings on the male disconnect have limited life spans.

A 1st in the V1 brewery for 1st generation rehydrated yeast....crawling out of the fv....the T towel had been replaced twice
I rinsed and re-sanitised the airlock 4 times before giving up and fitting an a blow off tube ....the pic shows it just after fitting it'll be full of yeast in a hour



3 bubbles a second after 24 hours and it's not even at it's most frenetic

There's gotta be something said for mineral additions

I fitted the blow off tube less than an hour ago and it can't cope already



I've had to put the blow off tube bottle in a 3ltr bucket.....which it's already filling

After only 24 hours the worst is yet to come...I've never had a ferment like this before


EDIT....there are no bubbles per second....it's continuous

It looks like you need to set up your own Burton Union System!
I probably shouldn't give you ideas.

I brewed a dark mild that exploded out of the FV last weekend. Which is a rare one for me as well.
