Lazy Brewery Honey Beer 13/4/08

Post by subsub » Sun Apr 13, 2008 9:09 pm

Nothing much on today so I decided to brew a honey beer after looking at EB's post. I was initially going for a Bumblebee clone but after realizing I wouldn't be able to drink a full barrel of it I went with Gurgeh on the utlisation of the honey and the hops. It's meant to be a quaffer hence very little malt was used.

Lazy Brewery Honey Beer 23L

OG 1038

Boil 60mins

3.25kg Marris Otter
0.35kg Carapils

30g Progress 6.3% AA 60min
25g EKG 5.3% AA 60min
15g Progress 6.3% AA 15min
15g EKG 5.3% AA 15min

Whirfloc 10min

125g Honey at power off

I saved 2 litres from the boil for starter medium and ended up with 21 litres and according to Beersmith obtained 79.3% efficiency which is my highest batch sparging figure since giving up fly sparging :pink:

Top pics Subsub. Sounds like it'll turn out to be a right summer quaffer! I love Waggledance - I wonder if they use real honey or just a flavouring?
