I think water treatment cured haze issues for me as well but I want to get a few more water treated brews under my belt before I declare success!

Nice looking beer there.

It's a bit of a dog's breakfast with all those spreadsheets. I use bits and pieces of all of them plus brewwater to get me where I think I need to go.

I am looking forward to trying Graham's. Sooner or later this forum will get me converted to metric.

I have been waiting with baited (bated?) breath to hear what happened to Vossy's haze. I think it's cured. They don't even fine properly if the calcium isn't there.

Looks good. Shame you fined this one though, it would have been nice to see if this had cracked your haze issue.
You're winding me up

I only fined 500ml, there's still another 59+ ltrs untreated, so I'm sure I can spare a few samples for quality control that can remain untreated
I'm also confident enough in my brewing technique (It took a year to produce the perfect haze), to say that I think I've found the source of my haze athough I may stand to be corrected...but I doubt it....bold and confident statement for a change...positivity, that's what I like
But it might still throw a chill haze DaaB   ....better ruddy not do

The difference in fining was quite staggering compared to previous brews. I added the isinglass and within the hour cold break type flocs had formed in the trial jar. If the photo I posted was full size you could see the particulate that remained stuck to the side of the jar.
The bottom of the jar has around 5mm of fined material in it.

Perhaps one of the reasons my IPA last year was so gin clear was because it was left far longer to mature than any standard ales I made at the same time :-k

There's only one way to find out...brew more...starting this Saturday 8)

I thought I'd try and pre empt a chill haze in my fined sample of ale this afternoon, so I put it in the freezer and....err....forgot about it
It was nearly fully frozen and hazy as hell when I remembered where it was.
After many pieces of kitchen towel wiping the condensation of the glass and book, I managed to get this photo when the beer was only 6 deg c.
It's in a 3" circ mini tumbler and I'm quite happy with the result...though father Jack seems to have taken a battering from the ice

Tonight I racked this ale and filled 3 cornies, 2 with fined ale and one without. All 3 are now sat in the kegerator at 13 deg c awaiting their encore which should be in 4-5 weeks time,

who am I trying to kid

One thing I did notice is that the last of the ale in the fv was far hoppier than the sample jars taken from the bottom tap when the fv was full :?
I assume that might have something to do with floating hop oils from the 80 deg c steep. Perhaps dry hopping the individual corny's would minimise this to some extent.

The first corny, which was fined has now run out, so I tapped the non fined corny and it is as clear as the fined 8)
The V1 haze issue is a thing of the past...it would appear :pink:
