Latest Home Brewing Exploits

Post by drbell » Sun Apr 27, 2008 5:15 pm

For anyone who is interested, I've had a busy weekend on the homebrew front. I bottled the John Bull Masterclass Irish Stout (which is already stunning), bottled 2 different wines, kicked off a Sherwood Forest Bitter, and kicked off 2 new wines.

Full details on my blog for anyone interested:

I really can't wait to see what the Stout is like, a taste of the dregs on bottling day was really encouraging.

If you can resist it, the JB Masterclass Stout improves beyond all recognition if left for a couple of months... I thought it was a little ordinary soon after bottling, but amazed when I went back to it later - one of the best stouts I've made, I preferred it to the Brupaks Brewer's Choice.

Cheers for the replies. Certainly was busy, I cannot believe how long this stuff takes - sanitising drives you nuts...

I'll certainly put some of that stout away for a few months thanks - its just how much of it I can keep undrunk that long ;-) I really hope it does come out well, my first 2 brews were average and awful, so this third brew needs to keep my motivation levels up.

I'm trying to keep the blog interesting, but its getting harder now that I have made a few brews, mostly in the same ways.

Cheers

Glad to hear you seem to be improving!

My first two brews have been pretty crap tasting but hopefully I'm putting it down to fluctuating fermentation temps - next one will have an aquarium heater in it so fingers crossed!

The picture of your friend tasting the strawberry wine is special.
