Welcome back and as a new brewer I would like to know what made you stop 20 years ago?

MightyMouth. I stop brewing after i left home and i bought a flat, with space being limited it was hard to get brewing. I did the odd brew but all that steam in a small flat not a good idea  I had that flat for 11 years (negative equity) When i moved houses my equipment always moved too so i knew one day i would get back into the fold, i just didn't think it would take this long  I now have a nice garage next to the house so the "Anchorage brewery" can finally open

Chickens are very good at taking photos of the brewday so you can concentrate on weighing, pouring, lifting etc.

Welcome back!

"Returned to brewing after 20 years" seems to be quite a typical thing on this forum. I wonder if there are more of us returnees than actual new brewers?

Thanks ECR. I had assumed the cock was part of the "getting the magic to work" bit. Black candles, draw a pentagram... and the beer ferments.

I thought I left a message earlier saying something like that was my first AG - it is nice isn't it. I had scare thinking I had diacetyl (not enough aeration) but it turned out to be the EK goldings  Tastes great now

Reading the O.P sounds like what I've done.
I was helping my uncle to brew from the age of 14, I started the art of brewing on my own at 16 using Tom Caxton, John Bull, etc, etc,. with a Boots the chemist brew bin!! (first kit was 24 pints Tom Caxton lager)
Anyway, at 30 I moved up to AG, and what a difference it made to quality, even though they were not as good then as they are now!
I've wasted grains with a bad mash, leaned from mistakes, bottled to early, thought sterilisation was optional, bought a crown corker you knocked tops on with a hammer :( .
I'm back now after a 8yr break brewing beers that are better than a lot I've paid £2.00+ for in the boozer, and it's all thanks to you on this great web site, plus fantastic grains and hops off Reaper (Barley Bottom)
I'd also like to thank Horden Hillbilly for being so kind replying to my questions and congratulate him on his brilliant web site.
May I say a big thank-you to all of you!!
I'm brewing again, and here to stay....
