Gravel Rash ESB

Post by eddnix » Fri May 16, 2008 9:10 am

I have an exam this afternoon 8-[
So, to avert my mind, I'm going to put a mash on this morning. I'll sparge and boil this evening over a few unwinders :D

This is my first attempt at formulating my own recipe, but here it is:

Gravel Rash ESB

23l

MO 4.500kg
Crystal 0.5kg
Torrified Wheat 0.2kg
Flaked Barley 0.2kg

Northdown 8.0% 35g 90mins
Fuggles 4.5% 20g 90mins
Goldings 5.5% 15g 10mins
Goldings 5.5% 30g Steep

SO4

Any thoughts before I dough in are gratefully received!

I'll remove the wheat then and up the MO and crystal a little. Thanks for that!

Certainly no drinking this morning, although...

OK, maybe not!

Thanks fellas :)

Mashing @ 68c. Time for a last minute perusal of my notes and a bacon butty.

I used t-wheat and flaked barley in my bramling beauty seemed to work pretty good.

The brew went well. The ferment didn't fair so well.

SWMBO upped the assault in our game of "Radiator Wars". As a result I hit 1.008 in two days and from a taste from my trial jar, I've brewed a Trappist Bitter.

Never mind, it's still drinkable, just not a session beer. Let's see how a couple of months in the barrel treats it

I guess I'll trawl the semi amusing posts of freecycle for a fridge. By semi amusing I mean:

Offered - a tile for the kitchen that says "Susan's Kitchen" and a bag of left foot shoes - Susan.Smith@chunter.com
Wanted - a Sherman Tank and an island in Na h-Eileanan Siar - Susan.Smith@chunter.com

Your heating is on? We haven't used ours in months. It was a bit parky this morning though. My SWMBO however is of the 'Wear a jumper it's cheaper' mentality so it's unlikely to go back on.

It's to do with the amount of laundry that is done in our house everyday, once the washing line is full, the overspill hits the radiators - no room for a tumble drier.

Oh - your both lucky - with mine its like - there are no drooping plastics in the house, and the saudis/russians could up production if they wanted...

If it was followed by "oh and I'll just have to wear nothing but a g-string" it would be forgivable...
