Ruddles Rhubarb

Post by nofe4r » Sat May 17, 2008 7:32 pm

Hi everyone.

Just wondering whether anyone has attempted to have a crack at making something like Ruddles Rhubarb?

I am not particulaly keen on it, but the other half likes it, which is a big deal since she isn't a beer drinker.

Any ideas?

Cheers. :D

We had a chat about the beer some time last year and I think everyone thought it was shite :=P

hmm, it is a strange one indeed,

anyway Ruddles is now part of Greene King's empire so you won't catch me buying it again.

I'd follow Wheelers advice and use 150-200g of fruit and sanitise it by pouring boiling water over it, then if you wish, follow more of his advice and pop it in the microwave occasionally, as required to hold the temperature at 80 deg c over 20 mins. The fruit and water can all be added to the secondary and left there for a week.

I tried this with cherries and it works well.
Nice one. :)

What about the vanilla? There is a very strong vanilla aroma and taste to it (I suspect this is why she likes it). Is this something to add to the boil or secondary again?
