Recipe Thoughts for tomorrow

Post by coatesg » Mon May 19, 2008 12:35 am

Thinking about a recipe for tomorrow - weighing out in advance, and it turns out I have only 3.5kg pale left :!: :!:

Thinking about the following loosely based on Norm's RAA recipe for Bearskinful, with a slight reduction on pale and adding 20g late styrians in there:

23L:

MARIS OTTER PALE MALT 3.5kg
CRYSTAL MALT 210g
WHEAT MALT 450g

CHALLENGER 50g - 60min
STYRIAN GOLDINGS 15g - 15min
STYRIAN GOLDINGS 20g - 2min

Probably use S04 and look for somewhere around 3.6-4% with an OG of 1038-40 ish.

I thought the hop amount looked a little high so I put that recipe into beersmith, which is what I use, and came out with an IBU of over 50...

Assuming the Challenger IBUs are the same as mine, 7.9%, and the Goldings just over 4...

I'd halve that addition...

Everything else looks good for a nice light coloured tasty bitter

 late night typo - hit the 6 instead of the 3 - should have been 30g (7% AA) .
