Out of time brew Day

Post by kitwom » Sat May 24, 2008 3:45 pm

Hi All

The other day I posted a note talking about my out of date malt and whether it was safe to brew. Well I took the plunge. Thought I'd post this as a guide to anybody else like me who is thinking about starting the hobby again and has a cupboard of old stuff!.

My hops are in date though, they last years in foil. (It seemed like a long way off back then though.)

Anyway, could'nt work out how to post images , so I posted them on my web site. Please take a look and feel free to pass comment on technique, I'l always up for improvement!

recipe

5kg lager malt
50g Saaz Hops

Looks good.
Must try the dumped malt approach with my dogs :)

The one time I dumped the spent grain in the garden the dog found it and I was picking up foul smelling flapjacks all week
