I am new to home brewing having never brewed anything before in my life. I started my first brew of Coopers Lager 7 days ago and, today, drew some off for the first time to check it prior to bottling tomorrow.
I was a little surprised to find that the lager seems to be quite yellow in colour and, although it seesm to smell ok, it doesn't look good reminding me somewhat of a weak pus!
During the fermenting, it didn't seem to ferment with any excitement and certainly I've seen no bubbles coming out of the air lock. The liquid has always had what looked to be a small head on it so I'm assuming that fermentation has taken place, particularly since this head now seems to have nearly gone suggesting that fermentation is complete.
I don't know if this is normal, perhaps you could advise?
Lager is yellowy and not looking good
Thanks for the advice. Drawing off a larger sample reveals that it is indeed just cloudy. It tastes ok so I guess it's a case of wiser next time around.

Since, as I said, this is my first time brewing I was not expecting anything, including the cloudiness. Clearly had I expected my first brew to look like this, I would not have asked the question!mysterio wrote:Everything is normal, lager is yellow. What colour were you expecting?
