Hey guys looking to brew a new kit but not sure what to go for – I’ve read on here about fixby gold being popular. I’ve done the JB ipa which was nice - from king keg. The Bavarian larger JB didn't turn out too well - high ferment temps I think. I’m looking at putting this into a cornie with some force carbonation.
I just got back from the co-op with a selection of ales to try and the one that came out on top was their gold miner - anyone tried this? The information on the back was quite vague - a nice refreshing golden coloured ale, spicy orange and citrus favours and a soft maltiness. I cant really find out too much about this beer apart from it was brewed in Gloucestershire – but something like that would be nice. Most of the ales I tried were ok really.
I also understand that its hard to recreate a commercial ale from a kit – maybe to an extend with extract and all grain, but if people could give an idea what they like and what they’ve done so I can decide what to do next it would be a great help!
What to brew
I'd hazard a guess going on the name of the beer GOLD miner and its description that its a single hop beer made with FIRST GOLD hops (orangey citrus is a good description of its flavour profile). You should try badgers First gold beer to see if you like it (also a single hop beer made with first gold).
Not sure how you can re-create that flavour in a kit maybe you could make a hop tea with first gold and add that to a kit to give it that little something extra.
If you want to re-create beers i guess extract/all grain is the way to go, with the all grain allow you to tinker the most.

Thanks for the reply delboy, i was just wanting somthing to kit brew that would be the flavor i might like - i need to read up about ebu and ebu stuff next to see what kit i might like based on ?hoppyness and colour. I know im not going to be able to recreate a beer from a kit, just looking for somthing in that area so im not wildly disappointed - although ill drink anything!
