woodfordes versus dry kit

Post by eeyores61 » Sun Jun 08, 2008 11:11 pm

I've noticed a hambleton bard dry malt kit from stonehelm which, with p & p, is roughly the same price as the wherry kit from wilkos.

In a fight, which would win? :D

Not gone any beer fermenting and getting withdrawal symptoms!

Daab, do you sleep? Superfast reply, thanks!

Ah, so the dry spray kit would end up more expensive. Wish wilkos would stock Great Eastern, I fancy trying a different brew.

I did Hambleton Bard Old English about a year ago. I either used Spraymalt or beer enhancer, I think it was spraymalt. It came out rubbish- thin, weak, and watery. Maybe this is the way that style of ale is supposed to be, or maybe i cocked it up somehow, but personally I'd go for a Woodfords instead.

Same here. I wasn't at all happy the the HB I did recently. Wherry was excellent apart from it sticking a bit and I ended up over-carbonating so I'll do one of those again, maybe with a better yeast like safale04.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

If the Hambleton Bard dry kits are a no go then why not consider the Brupaks Brewers Choice dry kits!

You can pick up the Best Bitter for around £15 and the IPA for £17 although extra dme/lme is required so it will work out more expensive in the long run but a lot of people on here recommend them so you should turn out a superior pint.
