John Bull Masterclass Irish Stout FLAT
John Bull Masterclass Irish Stout FLAT
Hi Everyone, 4 days ago I put on a John Bull Masterclass Irish Stout 3kg Kit. I followed the instructions and am just wondering what should I expect the Final Gravity to come down to. It is currently reading 1.016 and no signs of activity. I am intending to put this in a King Keg.
How long should I keep it in primary?
Anyone done this kit I would like to know what your FG was.
Thanks
Vik

I gather you mean 1040. It started at 1044, bubbled away nicely for 3 days, and seems to have stopped .How long should I leave it in Pirimary is there anything I can kick start it again or would you just leave it.DaaB wrote:It would have started around 1010 so I suspect it should be coming down to around 1010.
Hi Daab, I made it to 21.5L. Its been at 1.016 for 2 days. Is there anything I can do to kick start it off again. I added some 1/2 tsp brupacks yeast-Vit yesterday but nothing. Shall I try SAfale s04 yeastor Young ubrew Ae yeast? Seen something about Dry Beer Enzyme, shall I try this? Dont know what to do next. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

My John Bull Masterclass Stout has been sitting in the keg for about 3 weeks now. THe final Gravity was quite high so I only primed with 50 grams of sugar. Left in the warm for a week and my pressure gauge read 8 psi. This has been in the fridge now for 2 weeks and the pressure keeps falling by 4-5 psi, have topped it up three times to about 12 psi. I know there is no leak as I have given it the soap bubble test. I know the liquid will be absorbing co2. When I dispense from my dalex tap I am getting no head at all and its totally flat. It does taste ok(a bit sweet) but its totally flat like cold coffee.
I put on a new Hambleton Bard Beer float as the one which came with the King keg the glass bit always fell off. I have a 3/16 beer pipe coming from the float which goes to the back of the tap.. Any idea why it is flat. Could it be the high gravity or the pipe?
Thanks
