Coeliac friendly Beer?
Hi there everyone. I'm currently just a Kit brewer (and loving it) but I am feeling lured to all grain as I believe it will give me even more satisfaction - just like cooking from scratch is better than cooking with packets.
Anyway my Brothers motherinlaw has recently had a diagnosis of coeliac disease and as such has been told to stay away from her beloved Adnams beers and to learn to love cider - I was wondering if anyone has tried producing Coeliac friendly beers and if so how successful they were .

I'll go halfsies with you on a batch of malted sorghum if you like as She is a coeliac and grew up near (and went to school in) Southwold (With Lyndsay Adnam) so really misses here Adnams . . . .Oh minimum order qty is 1 tonne . . . . . Which is why I haven't brewed anything GF to date.
You might want to consider Hambleton Ales as a source of GF beer in the meantime. The GFA is much improved this year, and the GFL is pretty good . . . Personally I'd love to try a CAP with Malted Sorghum and Corn . . .Nick Stafford hasn't been around when I've been into the brewery otherwise I'd be really cheeky and ask him for a sack

I'll put my hat in the ring for a group buy - given my lack of experience with AG it might make sense for me to come visit another forum member for the brewday- then simply a case of bottling the stuff later on as I'm guessing that my brothers mother-in-law won't get through a nine quick enough to stop it spoiling. who's in then ? lets get a top quality home brewed gluten free ale ready for the August Bank Holiday !

If you want to find out what sorghum based beer tastes like before you spend a fortune on sorghum malt, you could try the Bosk gluten free beer kit. No one I tried it on thought it tasted like normal beer. Its less citrussy than GFA. They also do a lager which is just like lager.
