Hi Guys
Been here before! Put AG #3 in the FV last night, and even though I recycled about 10 litres, the next 15 or so into the FV were still quite turbid (last 10 were as bright as a button) - recycle more next time - however I suspect that turning the flow on and off was part of the issue.
However, that said, when I pitched things looked not to bad, bu this morning I have a good head of what I am fairly sure is trub (too brown for yeast).
Do I leave it, or skim it, and if I skim it do I repitch as well (using S04). At least this time I am using a regular bucket so access is not an issue.

Trub - to skim or not to skim
Mornin' Daab, I did skim shortly after I posted, the head has already bounced back, and its a nice creamy colour now, with a few specs of brown, rather than a "complete chocolate" mouse on top.
I am fairily sure I have overdone it with the aroma hops, and this will have to mature long time to be drinkable. Is there a rule of thumb re aroma hops, coz I kinda weighted the amount of very low alpha (2.6) styrians via alpha, and I am now thinking this is very stupid when it comes to late/aroma hops.

Macleanb - I only skim if I have a disgustingly ugly amount of trub on the yeast head, otherwise I don't bother. I had a conversation with David Edge a while ago where he was saying that skimming can remove some of the bittering compounds and lead to a less bitter beer.

yeah - it was big nasty trub - 1/4 inch of granular bown muck.
I had assimilated the mantra "more aroma hops is good" but scared myself a bit when I tasted it, as it tasted like alomost creosot-ish it was so aromatic/bitter....
So you dont think this will need extended conditioning to become palatable...

You can't have added anywhere near my 15 minute addition of 150g of 4.7% Bobek . . . . Its smelling rather good, and is now clear to the 15L mark . . . . Its supposed to sit around in the keg till next weekend then I'll keg / bottle it . . . This week I'm cleaning 4 1/2 Cornii to get ready for it
