trust me there not tricky at all, its buying the stuff you need that is lol
1 cornie with disconnects (normally supplied with), 1 regulator, 1 source of co2, some tubing, and a tap.
that will get you beer out. then you think of cooling the beer...
Beer cooler (maxi type), or kegerator (home made rapeage of a fridge/freezer).
sounds tricky, but it really isnt and definately well worth it.
only prob is you wont be able to stop at 1.

I can try and describe them.tatlock wrote:anyone know of any videos etc online that demonstrate how they work?
They're about the height of a toddler, and about 10" in diameter.
They have a pressure tight lid which a young woman can get her arm in to clean, and 2 valves on top that look identical. Gas goes in one, and beer comes out of the other.
To use the valves you need special fittings which you can buy on the internet.
So the entire system consists of, the keg itself full of beer, a gas bottle with a regulating valve on it, connected to the 'in' valve, and a pipe that comes off the out valve which is either connected directly to a tap, or is connected via a special diaphragm valve (demand valve) to a beer engine.
Does that help?

You forgot the young woman! One of those is essential.
As for videos - try this on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC7MDb0IuLs
The bloke has 4 videos up on keg cleaning, sanitising, dismantling, reassembling, etc, etc....
or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwdzvCXp8q8
There seem to be plenty more.

The missus can reach the bottom, almost.
He threw away a full brew to make that video!!!adm wrote: As for videos - try this on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC7MDb0IuLs
EDIT! : I've just noticed that norm is selling 2G corni kegs. They'd seem to be ideal for this.

After years of "placcy" i'm upgrading to corney keg, looked complicated at first viewing photo's on web sites, now i've seen one it's piss easy!!richard_senior wrote:It's an old truth : Buy cheap, buy twice.
In the case of beer kegs.. I can tell you it's definately true.
And in terms of laziness, you can faff with placcy, or you can just buy something proper
Placcys out for Johnny now, long live the corney

I just led a friend into the world of kegging. He didn't want the entire set-up so I suggested this:
Keg
gas in with CO2 cartridge (paint gun): http://www.homebrewing.org/Handheld-CO2 ... -1130.html
Beer out and a cobra tap
He'll carbonate with sugar and dispense with the charger
