Problem Kit! Munton Gold - Victorian Bitter

Post by mattamyg » Tue Jul 01, 2008 10:27 am

This was the kit that failed to start! In fact the original yeast is now visible floating on the top.

After the failed start, I took the advice and added some more yeast, in fact it was my wife and she added bread yeast(!), this got the thing going a treat, but now, a week later it has stalled again, I added some yeast vit at the weekend but it seems to have had little effect.

Its very cloudy and stuck at 1020. It is producing some Co2, maybe a bubble every 5 minutes or so. It was in the house at 22C so I moved it to the garage where its at 18C.

I was thinking of adding a sachet of Sarfale SO4, leaving it another week (that will be then 14 days and 2 lots of yeast) and then using some finings to clear if it hasn't cleared already.

I planned on bottling it, and then leaving until end of august, for a present for my dad, hence wanting it to be right.

Should I bin it, or try and rescue?

Thanks

Matt

cheers dab.

I'll tip it away and start again.

I have a few sachets of SO4 that I will always keep to hand.

Thanks for the kit tips, I'll go for that also!
