Not tried the milestones but maybe use some dry beer enzyme. That should bring the gravity down (possibly a lot). If you want it to stop at say 1010, pop it into the cold to stop the fermentation.

i have used the enzyme twice before, but the resulting beers always seemed a bit flat

I've used DBE once and mine was overcarbonated, so I don't think the flatness was because of it.

I've just done a Lions Pride kit, which took a little TLC for it to drop to the correct FG & even then it was a digit or two over the recommended FG.

Mind started slowly as the temp in the garage was a little low(17 to 18c), so I got a little heat in there & it finally setted out around 10 days later.

The intial brew was on the bitter side & very citrious, so I moved it into my kegs, with around 80g of DME & finnings, for secondary fermentation.

I had a quick sample a week after keg'ing and it's conditioning nicely i.e the bitterness & citrious flavours have mellowed & it's clearing nicely.

I'll leave it another couple of weeks, so with a bit of luck, it'll be just right.

Got a Wherry planned tonight but plan to use a Safe04 yeast, as I'm not conviced that the kit yeast is up to the job.
Darren.
