Brews sugar equivalents

Post by mashweasel » Wed Jul 30, 2008 4:21 pm

So Im trying to find brewers sugar equivalents. Here is what Ive come up with:

#1 - Lyles Golden Syrup - not perfect but works well

#2 - No idea...maybe dark brown sugar?

#3 - Treacle - seems about the right color.

Any input would be great guys.

Isn't brewers sugar the same as glucose?

Yeah, the invert #'s 1-3.

I do know how to make my own. Thats easy.

Lyles is 50% sucrose but there is quite a big difference in flavor between that and table sugar. It really comes out on the final beer.

So back at it, anyone use the invert brewers sugars? Specifically #2?
