Tinkering with my wherry

Post by Luther » Tue Aug 05, 2008 2:03 pm

No, it's not a euphemism...

My third ever kit, a Wherry, is currently bubbling away in the fermenter.

Last time round, I dry hopped my Milestone IPA with some styrian goldings, and it tastes bloody marvellous if I do say so myself.

I've got the remainder of the hops in the freezer and I'm sorely tempted to throw them in the Wherry. Is that a good idea? Or should I just leave it be?

Anyone successfully tinkered with a Wherry and got a good result?

Cheers

If you like the additional hops, i don't see why you couldn't. Dry hopping is "Generally Regarded As Safe" by many homebrewers.

Drinking some as I type. Just swapped the yeast for safale04 so it doesn't stick. I've no kits in stock so I'm thinking of a Wilko's run to get a couple of wherry kits and over to the Homebrew Centre for brupaks (fixby gold or something) so I may get some hops too.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

Think the brupaks kits come with a hop teabag to use instead don't they?

Though i suppose that's hardly "dry" hopping, is it?

Are you going to use pellets to dry hop with? That's Steve's method by the look of things, and i tend to trust his opinion.

He can do science, he can.

Yes, I'll leave whatever brupaks kit I get "as is"

Wilko's still do the wherry kits for £14.99 so I'll get a couple and have a think how I want to tweak them.
