kit suggestion needed
Greetings,
I’m getting set to brew my first kit but am a bit overwhelmed with the selection available. In an ideal situation i would like to brew something like Wells Bombardier Satanic Mills or Black Sheep Riggwelter. Can anyone suggest a kit that may adhere to my taste?
If this sounds a bit unlikely from kit or for a beginner I’m open to suggestions for a good dark ale or stout.

i had great success with an Edme Irish Stout made up with 1kg light dme. Primed with Molasses. Came out at 4.7% gave it 2 months in the keg as i was drinking other stuff, but it is gorgeous, in my notes "really good pint - make again - let mature."
Will be making again to bottle for christmas but this time adding a tin of black treacle to the fermentables.

Hi Adam, sound lovely. i love porter and stout so i might try that. Can you tell me what the additional black treacle does to the final beer?Adam wrote:i had great success with an Edme Irish Stout made up with 1kg light dme. Primed with Molasses. the treacle addition is in the nature of an experiment. Not done it before, but have just bottled the treacle ale that people are trying out in "Other Brews" section.
Apart from slightly raising the alcohol volume i am hoping it will impart some of its heavy sweet tastes to the background of the stout (will probably prime with it aswell.
I also have plans for a honey ale where i use honey as half the fermentables and as a primer. I like the adventure as much as the destination.
