Hallowen Beer

Post by Gepa » Mon Aug 18, 2008 3:17 pm

Hi all made my 3rd batch of homebrew last week and it is going well. Coopers Pale ale started at 10:42 and has now been sitting at 10:02 for the last 2 days so going to check it again tonight and bottle tomorrow. looks like it will come out at about 5.83% aprox. The kit is stated as being 4% but the guy in my local home brew told me to add more Suagar to increase the alocohol and after adding aprox 300g it shot up almost 2% more .

Anyhow. I am going to a fancy dress party at the end of October so will be starting to make a brew for that once my FV becomes free.

Now my question is If I was to just make an normal beer kit if I was to add non flavored food dye when I was botteling it would it change the color of the beer to say Green or Red without altering the taste as I think it would be cool to have a red or green beer for the Party.

Any tips ?

If you search in the Off Topic area you should find the post from last year where a chap brewed beer in a pumpkin...

I expect you could get away with brewing a beer and then adding the dye when you prime, green for goo and red for blood obviously.

Be interested to hear your results.
