ATC800 hole dimensions...
Hey everyone
Finally got round to ordering an ATC800 to control a beer fridge and while I wait for it to arrive I want to make a mounting box for it. Can anyone who has one give me the dimensions needed for the mounting hole?
Thanks!
Grahame

The thickness of the material you use to fit the ATC-800 into should be a maximum of 5mm due to the 4 clamp screws, 2 at each end (see Jim's photo).
The depth of the unit from the back of the facia to the back of the terminal cover is approx 50mm so consideration should be given to allow
enough depth for wiring the unit.

Jim, are you putting yours in an enclosure box?
I've been searching everywhere for one big enough (and cheap enough) to take the atc800 and two single sockets so all the wiring can be in one unit but no luck yet. (not keen on the sandwich box look)
I might take a trip to Maplin and see what they have on the shelf otherwise I'll atempt to make one using 5mm acrylic/perspex.

It's in the planning stage, but could stay there for some time now that everything's working.StrangeBrew wrote:Jim, are you putting yours in an enclosure box?

Ah, the 'if it's not broke don't fix it' approach. That's why I want to put mine in a box from the off or otherwise it'll never get done.Jim wrote:It's in the planning stage, but could stay there for some time now that everything's working.StrangeBrew wrote:Jim, are you putting yours in an enclosure box?

FYI, I have mounted an ATC-800 and two 13A sockets in one of these boxes...

Fibox ABS IP65 Box
Fits the 240X191X107 size pretty well. This was the only suitable size box I could find at less than £10!

Nope, two bog standard unswitched face plates side by side fitted directly to the box face. Cut holes to allow the back of the socket to fit in with two small holes either side to allow M3 nuts and bolts to hold them in place. The box plastic must be about 3mm so its quite secure.StrangeBrew wrote:Did you use dry linning/cavity back box's for the sockets?
I've routed the mains input and temperature probe out of the bottom edge of the box using some cable glands.

Maplin have some but the bigger ones are out of stock on their website. You might find one in a shop. They seem to be Gewiss branded, which you may come across in an electrical wholesaler.
These might be an alternative. They're a bit cheaper than Maplin thought I haven't done the P&P.
What about a metal one? I've got one of the bigger metal ones which will eventually house the Mark III HERMS controller.

Try these guys, I bought mine from them. GW44208 Gewiss Enclosures
Not to bad a price and they stock a range of IP68 cable glands to make an air tight seal on your FV with the temperature probe cable or a 22mm copper cooling spike if you use one.

I've got the clear one and it looks ok (ordered in stead of grey by accidentStrangeBrew wrote:...Rapid Electronics website and the 240X191X107 with the grey cover is out of stock for up to 2 months but the same box with a clear cover is in stock. Shame really as I'd prefer the grey one.
