Boiler Elements

Looking at the elements on the BES site they come with cutouts and thermostats. Do you know if you can get a continuous boil with these
without it cutting out every few minutes even with a high gravity wort?

Old kettles from the local cattle market - 50p! - is what I did, easy to strip.

Likewise got fed up with cut offs and thermostats.

if you're talking about the large immersion 3kW jobs, the cut-out is 'optional'. Simply don't wire in the the thermostat, the two I have in my boiler and they keep the wort at a nice 101C rolling boil. :D

that looks like a proper beast. how would you fix that to a boiler and how do you connect it to the power?

I fitted one to my HLT but it really needs a second one to get 80lt to strike temp.

Timer control and economy 7 .... 8)

I've got mine directly wired to the garage consumer unit via a 20a spur unit.
Check out the beers we have for sale @ Mix Brewery

a 64/65mm holesaw suitable for cutting whatever material you're mounting it in, they come with a back ring and fibre washer, I used the standard immersion heater spanner on the outside and a heavy duty oil filter wrench to tighten it on the inside.

then a separate box with sockets, I would abvise against plugging into a 13A socket.
