Can you recommend a book
Hi there, I am getting back into this brewing lark, just bottled my third all grain brew today, but something I could do with is a decent brewing book.
I get loads of brilliant info from this forum but I was looking for some kind of textbook that would give info like yeilds from different grains, background info on hop varieties and so on.
Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks

Hi, there are a few recommendations here.
Ray Daniels "Designing Great Beers" is a superb guide to brewing different styles and formulating recipes. It has loads of info on ingredients and calculations for gravity and bitterness too. It does assume that you have a good grasp of the basics, though.

When I first started brewing I borrowed some books from the local library, the best were, Dave Line, Graham Wheeler, and C.J.J. Berry & Roy Elkins, these are in by no means in order of preference, they're all very good.... If I was forced to choose
I enjoyed the Graham Wheeler books!!

I found the maths hard partly because I was having to translate the units of measurement. I use a hybrid of Daniels Idea's for brewing within the style and Wheelers hop calculations to get maths right and it seems easier though I am no expert. Also currently I am working on getting consistency in taste and quality before worrying about understanding colour.Dennis King wrote:I have got designing great beers and find it hard going
