I checked this last night and it had already hit target (1.010) so I transferred it into a secondary fermenter to drop for a week or so before kegging. Looks very bright and yellow - reminds me of a Belgian Pale at this stage.

Thanks - I was surprised that it had dropped from 1.040 to 1.010 exactly on first check after five days, but that's fine by me. Didn't want it to go lower so shipped it off the yeast:

It wasn't my fault. I was tempted away to the beautiful Suffolk coast to drink Adnams solidly for a week. One pub we popped into had six beers on tap from the local brewery, including Bitter, Broadside, East Green, Discovery, Old and err.. Spindrift.

Anyway, all that excitement meant I left my Pion Brew in secondary for a week longer than I intended. On my return I had to spend the evening cleaning and sanitising a couple of kegs and a load of bottles which wasn't any fun at all. I had to use a load of old WPV and some baking powder and it all got very messy, but I did take the kegs to pieces and do my best with wire pads etc... before Iodophoring it all to death, so hopefully my begrudging cleaning will have done the trick. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, the beer had dropped very clear as you'd expect, and it tasted promising, so I siphoned it over to a Corni and few swingtops. It'll now sit next to me in my office for a week then go out to the shed for a further three weeks or so. I possibly should have dry hopped in the keg, but it was so clear I couldn't make myself do it, and will brew again for a hoppier job instead. Here's hoping for a good 'un!
