Been shopping...

Called in to the Hop and Grape in Darlington this afternoon and came away with a sackfull of stuff.

3 brews-worth of marris otter, a few other grains, hops and a phial of Whitelabs English ale yeast.

I've also invested in a crown capper (my old one went rusty) as I've decided to bottle a batch this time, mainly because I'm drinking less these days and my last batch went off before I finished it.

There's a first time for everything!

Have you considered Mini Mashing Jim, its a great way to make a starter with liquid yeast.

I was just going to make up a gallon of wort with hopped spraymalt and split it into six when fermentation was nearly finished (that worked with my Wyeast, anyway). Minimash sounds like too hard work.

I've doubled my output to keep up with my input. The thought of a brew going off is totally alien to me. I'd probably drink it anyway
