I pitched a brew yesterday (OG 1.042) at 4 pm using Windsor yeast. Tonight at 11pm the fermentation appeared to have stopped so having read threads before regarding difficulties with Windsor i gently roused with a paddle.......Nothing!....5 minutes ago i took a hydrometer reading and it's down to 1.010 already.....IN 32 HOURS!!.....Have i bought alien yeast or has this happened to anyone before?
Cheers
Andrew

Re: Fast Ferment
I've had similar ferments with Windsor recently from 1.094 to 1.028 in 36 hours . . . I suspect really fresh yeast . . . and In my case I pitched 4 packets into 25 Litres

Re: Fast Ferment
Thanks Aleman at least it's not just me.I did make a starter over 24hrs beforehand using GWs method and it was going like a good 'un at pitching. Do you think i should rack into secondary now or leave it a few more days?. Normally i would leave it in the FV for 10 days so after finishing in 2 days i'm at a bit of a loss.

My Exmoor clone went like a rocket with Winsor too, down to 1014 in no time at all! just waiting for it to settle down, not sure if it'll go any lower.

Still give it a week to 10 days in primary, let the yeast clean up after itselfalefric wrote:Do you think i should rack into secondary now or leave it a few more days?

Re: Fast Ferment
Hi
Just used Windsor for the first time, should it be faster than Safale-04? Came home from work today 16 hours after pitching and there was yeast everywhere, It'd forced it's way through the airlock, wife unimpressed!!
She said "If it happens again I'm leaving"!! might put extra yeast in next time just to make sure..LoL
