Hi,
Got a couple of bottles of this at the weekend and have really enjoyed it, does anybody know if there are any kits that would be close to this ale, this is the blurb from the website
Badger Poacher's Choice is a smooth, dark ale enhanced by a touch of liquorice for spicy sweetness and damson for a soft, subtly fruity taste.
Cheers Paul

Re: Badger Brewery - Poacher's Choice
I had some of that while on holiday this year, a bit like dinner and pudding rolled into one. Very nice though.
I would think it would be a tricky one to replicate with a kit, I've never seen anything similar. Perhaps you best chance would be to use something like Cooper's Dark as a base, you would need to add more spraymalt to get the strength up, and perhaps some hops to balance it out... As for the damson, you could stew some to extract the juice, but I'm not sure if you might need pectolytic enzyme in it to prevent hazes in the finished beer. It might also be possible to use the Damson Gin Liqueur flavouring that's available?
As you can probably tell, I'm no expert of fruit in beers, perhaps someone else could help out.

The John Bull London Porter I made recently tastes pretty much like that description.
Mind you, I don't think it was meant to
