hi i'm sorry but i don't know what hydrometer reading is as i've never used one i just brew it and drink it
Re: lidl red wine
I've made loads of this stuff. I mix 4 parts grape with one part apple. It is a very nice tipple. You can make a very nice white using the same amounts. Aldi sell white grape juice around 75p. I make all my wines with supermarkets fruit juice. The Ribena blend also make very nice rose.

Hi dews
Have seen your recipe on here and have slapped some in a demijohn, used about 10 oz sugar to try and get a middle of the road medium red.. Will let you know how it turns out.. thanks for sharing the recipe!

Re: lidl red wine
Dewsfamily, I am going to follow your recipe, just a couple of questions:
How long do you leave it in the demijohn for? (How do you know when it's ready?).
Is it drinkable straight away after bottling or does it need to be left for several months?
Thanks.

Re: lidl red wine
Hi mrbenbod,
I normally leave mine in demi just over a week depending on how warm it is but usually wait until airlock slows right down to about 1 or 2 bubbles a minute then i stop it and add kwik clear and yes you can drink it as soon as it's clear or bottle and leave it for a while. Any more questions don't hesitate to ask will be posting some pics later to show how my sparking one is going along
