No need to spend a lot of money on hop scales. Your local supermarket will probably sell what are described as 'Diet Scales', which I assume are aimed at dieters, and which have a range of 0-500g. I got mine from Morrisons for less than a fiver.

you need to optimize your pics - they're proberbly too big coming straight off your camera/phone. Also consider using webspace to host your images such as image shack and direct linking to them from this site

Kristoff, your setup it pretty similar to mine when I first started all grain. It may take a few brews to get it all dialled in but it becomes easier and less time consuming when you do. You'll love how the beer turns out as well :)

p.s. I'm not gonna go anywhere near talking about shiney stuff

Hi all, just kegging this brew now. Tested the gravity in trial jar, so I had 100ml of beer to try, and............................

....................... ABSOLUTELY EFFIN FANTASTIC :flip:

What can I say, but everyone that says go "Go AG you won't belive the difference" you've hit it on the head. But i still didn't belive it entirely until now..

To all non AG brewers uncertain to try - DO IT - This brew tastes better than anything i've recently had in a pub, :D
and infinately better than a 'premium' bottled ale. After the complete faff I had during the brew, with not enought heat etc. I wasn't expecting too much, but this is amaing. [-o<
I can't wait to do my next one with the new boiler I've got coming from Leyland. I can't imagine how that one will be.

Infact, i'm going to have another glass before it goes in the keg - wow - what's it going to be like when conditioned :D

It is a fantastic step to make. :D I only did this myself quite recently. I did my 3rd AG today and also barreled my 2nd. That tasted nice, but the pint I'm drinking now of perfect pale ale which was my 1st AG is absolutely superb. Just 12 days in the barrel in the garage has transformed the flavour from something very nice to something even better! :D

I'm not kidding t's gorgeous, the brew is a nice golden colour, quite hoppy and as I boiled off too much liquid, it's a heady 5.3% :D
Having only done kits before, i'm a bit uncertain, do I need a primer, or shall I just keg it and gas it up, and is somewhere cold better?

From here on in i'd treat it exactly like a kit brew, i've no idea what kind of dispensing system you have but if you've been priming and leaving it somewhere in the house to carbonate before putting it somewhere cold do that. If you've got the ability to force carbonate go ahead and do that.
