Wher a recipe calls for use of rice or maize can use be made of corn flakes or special k ?
Re: dave lines
I believe that you can get some breakfast cereals (corn flakes basically) that are low in added salt. It's not Kellogg's and is probably a supermarket own-brand. They list the salt content on the box, so you can check next time you're at the shops. If not, then LHBSs sell flaked maize (as does BarleyBottom). That's what I ended up using last time.
Re: dave lines
You should be able to find flaked rice and flaked maize with zero additives in your local healthfood shop. Not sure about the price though.
Re: dave lines
flaked rice can be got at sainsurys for about 50p for 500gm , flaked maize from any home brew shop or online shop for pennies, i wouldnt bother with alternatives as a devout dave line disciple

Re: dave lines
someone on here once said that sainsburys own brand corn flakes are the lowest in addatives but I dont shop there in case I bump into that Jamie bloke
Re: dave lines
are you wanting to use Flaked Maize but having trouble finding it ?
You might try an agricultural or stock feed place. Better still an equine stock feed outfit. I sourced FM this way, and its as cheap as chips. I tend to use a bit more than the recipe calls for as the crush is quite coarse. Where a recipe states a kilo, I use 1.5.
Hopp.
