When you say...Special Roast (Brown Malt)...is that what Jamil refers to do you think? I've had a blank expression when asking about Special Roast from a HBS owner.

From what I've read, the closest thing to Special Roast is Brown Malt. I use his(Jamil's) recipe for Bitter, which this primarily is, but with Chocolate Malt and a tad of Black Patent, and a reduction in hops. Check this out: http://www.kotmf.com/articles/maltnames.php
