Frozen Isinglass

Post by christhebrewer » Wed Nov 19, 2008 7:53 pm

Hello All,

Does anyone know how effective Isinglass (1ltr of the stuff from H&G) is after it's been frozen then thawed?

I was tinkering with my fridge yesterday and hoped I'd finally managed to get it to hold at 2c for lagering. I've just checked it tonight and the thermo reckoned it was -6c and everything is frozen.

Cheers,

Chris

Purely to satisfy my chemistry fetish, how does freezing knacker isinglass. To that matter, what is the active component of isinglass? Is it an organisms like yeast?
