Actually it's slightly out of range in terms for an APA of OG but am hoping (hopping

As it will be my first ever brew with First Gold hops, I would like to know what to expect from First Gold if anyone here's a fan of? Also regarding the Bittering hops, has anyone experimented extensively in substituting the 90 min hop addition for other hop varierties in other recipes? My theory being that with lots of the volatile aroma's etc driven off - would I get a noticably different beer if I had not bothered to get the First Golds and bittered with say Target? Although I do have substitution tables for hops, was just considering how vital the authenticity of the exact bittering hop was. I suspect there's alot more to it though as when I tried a Northern Brewer hopped Guiness, there was a distinct hop aroma that you dont get with Guiness, not unpleasant - just different.

Water treatment (New one for me) am not boiling this time and am using 3tsp of CRS plus 3g Calcuim Chloride, 3g of Gypsum & half a campden Tablet.
Lastly not being advocate of like for like yeast use - I am using Nottingham. For one thing I have lots of it! Also to get around the 'dryness' I am mashing at 67c as I hope this will add some sweetness in the form of dextrins that Nottingham can't munch through. (Or am I being optomistic?).
My Caramelising experiment last time worked and I have just had some great feedback on my Beast viewtopic.php?f=24&t=17149 beer that posted a while back. I think I will Caramelise my first pint and a half too.
Anyone care to critique my recipe?
Many Thanks
Phil
