Using off cuts of pipe I hold in place my copper mash strainer, till I can get some clips.

Seems to work well. Strike water temp 80c.

Image

Mashed at 66c for 2 hours and didnt loose a degree even though it was 3 degrees outside! 14L of mash water.

First runnings

....and into the boiler

Spent grains

Boil hops (scales from Tesco btw £9.99...i think) temp shows its 8.5 degrees in my garage....bit cold!

Boil hops in

Last 10min and aroma hops.......all Cascade (hope I like them, not tried them before!!!!!)

Running off into fermenting bin, nice colour and very clear.

Image

SG of 1052 just short of my original but thats fine just about as high as I wanted anyway.

Image

Wort finished running at exactly 5 gallons, good result!!!

Used Nottingham yeast and just sprinkled it on to the wort.....lets see how it works.

That recipe looks good to me - just the way I like them.

If you end up not liking the Cascade taste, just send me all the bottles and I will dispose for them for you.

Looks marvellous 8)

On my last few brews I have just sprinkled dry Nottingham yeast on the surface and it has been fine, although that was during the summer. Interested to see how it does in the cooler weather.
