 Chris, I'm staggered!!! They sell those things by the truck load round here! All sizes. People cut them up for cattle drinkers. It never even occurred to me that they are, of course, Food Grade!

Brilliant! I'll work out what size will best suit my needs and shall enquire about which day it is the guy sells them. He has a lorry and sets up just this side of town. I've always seen him there but, having no interest in the things, I've never clocked what day it is I see him. Probably cattle market day? I'll ask Pat ;)

Cheers!

Thats a lot of p*ss you got there Ditch !

If it lasts you a year that'll be 3.4 gallons a month. If you manage that your liver will resemble a black lace doylie.

Let the brewing begin =D> =D>

Makes me glad that I don't live in Ireland.
A grand seems mighty expensive for what’s in that photo, probably cost around £600 from round here.

That would be a grand in Yoyos which is less than a grand in sterling.

oops Forgot that they don't use real money in Ireland now.

But all the same it still works out pretty expensive

1,000.00 EUR = 845.741 GBP

Well it doesn't matter whatever way you work it out, Ditch has his gear and lots of brews on the horizon, that what matters.
People get far too hung up on money and trying to get things cheaper, we don't know what deals he made with his supplier.

All I was trying to point out KevP, was how expensive it seems in Ireland compared with England.(and I thought we were getting ripped off over here) I wasn’t getting “hung up about anything”, but if you prefer to pay more money for the same gear be my guest. But I suspect your as tight as a camels arse in a sand storm.

According to The Homebrew Company website, which is where Ditch got his gear from, they charge 14.99 Euros (£12.60) for a can of Coopers Stout. I on the other hand pay £8.30(9.88 Euros) from my supplier which is £4.30 (5.12 euros)cheaper per can for a start.

So there you have it. That is why I said I am glad that I don’t live in Ireland. It wasn’t meant to be a dig at anyone it was just a price observation. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I am sure that Ditch is happy with his purchase and I hope he did cut a good deal with his supplier. I have got nothing against Ditch and wasn’t trying to put a downer on his purchase or anytrhing like that.
I always read all Ditchs' posts, as I find them both amusing and informative.
