AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
Right well I had my 2nd AG brewday yesterday and it was alot smoother than last time! Started at 9:40am and it was all put to bed by 4:20pm. So here's the recipe
19L batch
Estimated OG:1063
4250gms Pilnser malt
500gms Aromatic malt
300gms Sugar
40gms Hallertau hops (2.8%AAU) 90 min boil
30gms Czech Saaz hops (3.0%AAU) 15 min boil
I have pictures that I might upload later when I have time. The only mistake I can think of is the recipe originally called for 250gms of Aromatic malt but I chucked the whole 500gms in instead. Which will mean a slightly stronger beer, but I'm fine with that.
I also hit the OG bang on, plus I have 19L more or less bang on, although admitedly that was with the 1.2L of starter pitched in as well. My Wyeast smack pack didn't swell in time for the the starter (which I made the night before) so fermentation might lag a bit. And just a quick check there doesn't seem to be any noticeable signs of anything happening yet.

Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
Some good news the air lock has started bubbling every few seconds now

Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
Sounds a nice recipe. If you hit the gravity you were after and ferment down to the FG you are targeting then the brew won't be stronger despite you extra malt addition - it'll just taste slightly differently because the recipe is different - could be a stroke of genius, who knows?

Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
Had a quick check of the gravity today, down to 1015, I'll check again on Sunday and if it hasn't changed I'll be kegging

Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
Good job Paul. You've taken to this AG brewing like a duck to water. Or a drinker to beer brewing....
Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
I believe it was Wyeast Belgian Ale 1294 (I think the numbers right?)delboy wrote:What yeast did you use?
Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
And here it is, it's a little bit dark for a Blonde but I think that might be due to the extra Aromatic malt I put in

Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
I'd buy a pint of that, no hesitation. Nice one Paul, great colour.
Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
Yeah it's really nice actually, it's not exactly the same as Leffe but pretty similaradm wrote:That looks great. How does it taste?

Re: AG#2 Leffe Blonde clone
it was the hope of producing a good leffe clone that finally got me into AG but still not done one yet
