has any one used cornflour (corn starch)in a recipe ? whats the its use ?

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I've never seen it in a recipe.

i noticed it in a recipe there the other week but it was said ,as , cornstarch i looked it up and the english equiv is said to be cornflour , when there was no reply on here i thought id better omit it froim the brew !?

Sounds a bit weird, It's not going to add any flavour to your beer and you'd risk a set mash if you used too much. Did it maybe say corn sugar? I.E. glucose? What's the recipe?

I've heard of this being used by Graham Sanders on the Aus Craftbrewer forum. . . . He was using it as a colour and flavour dilutant IIRC . . . . while it can be mashed (watch out for a set mash) a better result would be from cereal mashing it. . . . . As an alternative (with a little more flavour) you could substitute flaked maize (or flaked rice for less of a flavour contribution)

I've seen wheat flour used the mash in commercial Belgian recipes. I guess that's because it's cheap and probably improves head retention
