Post by smiffster » Tue Dec 09, 2008 3:23 pm

Anybody made one ?? I have just bottled a brew but struggled to get the fg down !! Instructions say to get steady readings of 1005 but i only managed to get 2 steady readings of 1010 after 8 days of fermenting but decided to bottle - had to syphon it and tasted lovely . Have i done right by bottling it @ 1010

You should be okay, just keep an eye on them, 1010 isnt too high :)

Hi mate i use 2 ltr PET Bottles and when the time comes to sample the brew i decant into a 2 ltr pitcher - made the mistake of leaving it in the bottle and the last pint is always cloudy - tastes ok but looks wrong !!!

I got 1010 on the hydrometer, two days later it went into the secondary (didn't check the Hydro).
cooled overnight then fined with isinglass on a rising temp for 3 days. dropped nice and clear before racking into cornie.
force carbed for 25 mins @ 30PSi then sat overnight @ 12PSi. Perfect.
Drinking it right now. Very nice. Will do again (unless my coopers bitter beats it).

all the best
SM67.
