Anyone done the Traquair House Clone posted on the net is it any good & could you put it on draft or does it really need to be bottled.I haven't bottled for years as i am far too lazy & my brew length is 120 litres that's a lot of bottles

Re: Traquair House Clone
There's the one in Clone Brews too (if you're interested in a different version) - more complicated and not tried it myself - though may give it a shot next year.

What's wrong with US Gallonscoatesg wrote:There's the one in Clone Brews too (if you're interested in a different version) - more complicated and not tried it myself - though may give it a shot next year.

That seems like a lot of late hops for that beer, but I haven't been that impressed with Clone Brews or Beer Captured (although I won Beer Captured). They seem to throw aromatic in everything.

Smaller than imperial ones (=less beer per gallon) wink:Grot wrote:coatesg wrote: What's wrong with US Gallons![]()
You're right about the late hops - sounds like a good recipe, but as you say, probably a bit too hoppy to be a "clone" as such. Still, thought it useful to compare this recipe with the other.

Re: Traquair House Clone
Yes it is this one i was thinking of trying but everyone seems to bottle it just wondering if anyone has put it on draft & how it was on draft.Looking at the recipe it looks very similar to the excellent Noonan's 1991 90 shilling Scotch Ale just a little higher gravity.I usually boil down about 5 gallons of the first running's in scottish ales in 120 litre brew length anywayoblivious wrote:Do you mean this one http://www.skotrat.com/skotrat/recipes/ ... es/10.html

Re: Traquair House Clone
I did it for last Xmas from BYO Clone Brews, it worked really well on draft.
Took some to the Colchester Winter Beer Festival this year on the CBA stand and it seemed to be enjoyed.
Its very nice enjoy
I have since bottled over half of it and its getting better and better with age.
It does really need 6 months + to age really, the flavours keep developing as it ages.
Only a couple of bottles left, it does not really need any carbonation so its fine to bottle from a keg.
Have not done it again this year, did a Clone of Dragons Milk from New Holland Brewing Company instead.
High ABV beers do need a long time to mature, I think from now on all my 8% will probably get minmium of 6 - 12 months.
So better get started on next years Xmas Beer now.
