Brew shop in Wigan or Manchester??

Does anybody know of a decent LHBS in either Wigan or Manchester? Or anywhere close to the route from Guildford to Wigan (A3--M25--M40--M42--M6)

I'm off to see the family tomorrow and need to pick up a few bits - would prefer to be able to do it en route if possible....

Hi,

I've used the following homebrew shop in Stockport which is close to the m60 and not at all far from Manchester...

They seem to stock a whole array of stuff in this one and it's wonderfully cluttered and piled high with weird bits and pieces.

The Hombrew Shop
48 Buxton Road
Stockport
SK2-6NB
0161 480 4880

A friend of mine has been to the following homebrew shop and thoroughly reccomends her...

Julie's Home Brew
881-883 Oldham Road,Newton Heath
Manchester
M40 2EE
01612 056513

Never been myself so no idea what she stocks though.

Good luck!
Planning - Not for a long while

Fermenting - I'm Done

Bottle Maturing - Hobgoblin, Fullers ESB, American Stout, TOP, Fullers London Porter, Bandini Black IPA

Drinking - Still...Whiskey

Leyland Home Brew may be another option for you. They are 2 minutes away from M6 Junction 28. Leave the motorway in the direction of Leyland. Turn right at the second of two pimple roundabouts, go straight across the next roundabout and park in the shopping complex associated with Lidl and McDonalds. The shop is immediately adjacent to this, on Chapel Brow.

I'll second the Stockport suggestion. It's my LHBS. Morris Hanbury hops at £4.79 a pack. :D

POTTER BREWERY (mothballed 2020)

Fermenting: nowt (sadly). Drinking: still a few bottles of my imperial stout knocking about . . . it's rather good now

Thanks!

I stopped off at the Stockport shop. It was only about 2 miles away from my destination in Didsbury.

It's a pretty good shop - they had lots of stock and a goo d variety of stuff.

I ended up with some Wyeast Ringwood liquid yeast, which I will something with in the next week or so. Also some crystal malt, CRS and some Amarillo hops.

I also bought a Beaverdale Chardonnay 30 bottle wine kit. That should be fun. I'll try and do that on Christmas Eve.

On the wine subject - should i treat my water for wine as I do for beer?
